Srinagar, July 19: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness another spell of intense rainfall over the next few days, with the Meteorological Department forecasting heavy to very heavy showers in several districts and warning of possible flash floods, landslides and waterlogging in vulnerable areas.

According to the latest weather advisory, the Union Territory will remain generally cloudy with rain and thundershowers at most places. Heavy rain, brief intense showers and torrential spells are likely in some districts, with isolated areas expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The advisory has specifically warned of extremely heavy rain over Reasi and Udhampur districts of Jammu division during late afternoon/evening hours and late night to morning periods.
During July 19 to 23, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over several districts including Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar, particularly during evening and late night hours.
The weather department has cautioned that intense rainfall spells may trigger flash floods, landslides and mudslides at multiple vulnerable locations. Authorities have also warned of rising water levels in rivers and tributaries, along with possible minor flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas.
People living near rivers, streams, hilly slopes and landslide-prone zones have been advised to remain alert and avoid unnecessary movement during intense rainfall periods.
The advisory comes amid continuing efforts by district administrations and disaster management agencies to remain prepared for weather-related emergencies across Jammu and Kashmir.
The weather is expected to improve gradually after July 23, with rain and thundershowers at isolated places likely between July 24 and 27, along with brief intense showers in some areas.
