The Jammu & Kashmir Gateball teams delivered an impressive performance at the Iconic India International Open Gateball Tournament 2025 held at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

In the Classic Team category, the J&K team qualified for the pre-quarterfinals, showcasing remarkable teamwork and skill. In the Doubles category, the J&K Gateball team created history by qualifying for the quarterfinals for the first time, following three consecutive victories.
Areesha Muneer, Munazah Firdous, Saania Bashir, Usmaan, and Rahib Nabi — all students of DPMS Gasoo — put up an extraordinary performance throughout the tournament, earning praise from officials and spectators alike.
The President and Secretary of the Indian Gateball Union (IGU) congratulated Team J&K for this milestone achievement. Sharing details of the event, Sahil Ali Beigh, Secretary of the J&K Gateball Union, confirmed that several athletes from J&K are likely to be selected for upcoming international tournaments scheduled to be held in Indonesia.
