
Srinagar, May 6: In continuation of the ongoing anti-drug enforcement drive under the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, J&K Police have achieved further success by arresting 07 drug peddlers in Anantnag, Sopore, Baramulla & Awantipora in separate actions and recovering contraband and psychotropic substances from their possession.
In Anantnag, acting proactively during naka checking and surveillance in the jurisdiction of Police Post Sangam, a police team intercepted and apprehended one drug peddler identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Samad Bhat resident of Melhora Wandana. During his search, police recovered 1 kilogram and 90 grams of charas-like powder substance from his possession.
In Sopore, J&K Police have apprehended a drug peddler during naka checking in the jurisdiction of Police Post Putkha. During naka duty at Wagub Crossing, a suspicious individual was intercepted and apprehended. Upon personal search, contraband charas-like substance was recovered from his possession and seized as per due procedure. The accused has been identified as Hafezullah Lone, son of Ali Mohammad Lone, resident of Wagub Sopore.
In Baramulla, J&K Police have taken prompt action in two separate incidents, leading to the apprehension of three individuals found in an intoxicated state. In the first incident, two persons namely Faizan Ahmad Teli son of Abdul Majeed Teli resident of Banglabagh and Mudasir Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Mohalla Mir Sahib were found in an intoxicated condition near Suspension Bridge, Gousia Colony Baramulla. During their search, one syringe each was recovered from their possession. Accordingly, cognizance of the matter has been taken. In another incident, one person namely Abdul Rehman Malik @ Rehman Military son of Ghulam Mohammad Malik resident of Kalantara was found in a state of intoxication near Mukaam Bridge and was immediately apprehended.
In Awantipora, J&K Police arrested two persons during naka checking near Frestabal. The naka was laid under the supervision of SHO PS Pampore. During the checking, two individuals were intercepted and upon search, a charas like substance weighing approximately 40.86 grams was recovered from their possession. The accused have been identified as Peer Touseef son of Peer Nizamdin resident of Bagander Pampore and Arif Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmad Chopan resident of Badipora Chadoora.
All the accused persons have been arrested and accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.
Police have once again demonstrated its firm resolve to dismantle the narcotics network and protect society from the menace of drugs. General public is urged to continue extending support by sharing information related to drug peddling, with assurance of complete confidentiality.
