
Jammu Hits 44.4°C, Srinagar sizzles at 33.5°C
Jammu and Kashmir continued to reel under intense heat wave on Tuesday with Srinagar recording the day temperature of 33.5 degrees Celsius while in Jammu the temperature touched 44.4 degrees Celsius.
According to data compiled by Kashmir Weather, both Kashmir and Jammu region witnessed high maximum temperatures, triggering heat-related advisories.
In Kashmir, Srinagar recorded a day temperature of 33.5°C, which was 5.5°C above the seasonal average.
“Qazigund reported 34.0°C (7.3°C above normal), while Kokernag and Pahalgam sizzled at 32.2°C and 29.2°C respectively. Gulmarg, the famed winter destination, recorded a day temperature of 23.0°C, which was 4.2°C above normal,” a MeT official said.
In border district of Kupwara, the day temperature settled at 31.6 degrees Celsius
In the Jammu region, the day temperature in Jammu city touched 44.4 degrees Celsius, a staggering 5.6°C above the normal making it one of the hottest areas in J&K.
Katra recorded 40.6 degrees Celsius while day temperature in Banihal and Batote was recorded at 33.6 degrees Celsius and 33.3 degrees Celsius respectively.
In Ladakh UT, Kargil recorded 27.8 degrees Celsius.
Authorities have urged people to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary outdoor activity during peak hours, and take precautionary measures to cope with the ongoing heat wave.
