
Jammu, May 18: Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, today chaired a high-level review meeting to assess summer preparedness, arrangements for upcoming pilgrimages, availability of essential supplies, and preparations for Eid-ul-Adha across Jammu division.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, IGP Jammu Bhimsen Tuti, DIG Traffic J&K Dr Haseeb Mughal, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Devansh Yadav, Managing Director JPDCL Gurpal Singh, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Rakesh Minhas, and senior officers from various departments.
At the outset, the Divisional Commissioner briefed the meeting on overall summer preparedness, ongoing developmental works, and infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and public services across the division.
Officials informed the meeting that adequate stocks of food grains, fuel, and other essential commodities are available in Jammu division, with continuous replenishment ensured in view of prevailing regional uncertainties. Sufficient buffer stocks are being maintained to avoid any disruption during the summer and pilgrimage season.
The meeting also reviewed arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Machail Mata Yatra, and Budha Amarnath Yatra. Authorities said comprehensive measures are being put in place, including road maintenance, sanitation, healthcare facilities, traffic regulation, and emergency response systems to ensure smooth conduct of the pilgrimages, especially during the monsoon period.
The power supply scenario was also reviewed, with the Managing Director, JPDCL, informing that steps are underway for advance maintenance of transformers and strengthening of the distribution network to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during peak summer demand.
Preparations for Eid-ul-Adha were also discussed. The Divisional Commissioner said market inspection teams will be deployed to prevent hoarding, black marketing, and profiteering, ensuring smooth availability of essential commodities during the festive period.
The IGP Jammu and DIG Traffic briefed the chair on security and traffic management plans for Eid and the upcoming Yatra season, stating that foolproof arrangements and regulated traffic movement will be ensured for pilgrims and the general public.
Speaking during the meeting, the Advisor directed the Power Development and Jal Shakti Departments to ensure uninterrupted electricity and drinking water supply, stressing advance maintenance, rational deployment of water tankers, and 24x7 grievance redressal systems.
He instructed the Health Department to keep hospitals and primary health centres fully prepared to handle heat-related illnesses, maintain adequate stocks of medicines, and deploy mobile medical units in vulnerable areas, particularly along Yatra routes.
The Advisor also directed Traffic Police and the Transport Department to ensure smooth vehicular movement on key routes, while the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department was asked to maintain buffer stocks and intensify market monitoring during the festival and pilgrimage season.
Emphasising inter-departmental coordination, Nasir Aslam Wani said real-time monitoring and prompt grievance redressal are essential to minimise public inconvenience and ensure efficient service delivery during the summer, festive, and pilgrimage period.
