
The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is poised to make a strong impression on the national stage with the selection of 20 outstanding young athletes—10 boys and 10 girls—who will represent the region at the 20th Junior National Soft Amateur Tennis Championship. The prestigious tournament is scheduled to take place from June 26 to June 30, 2025, in Panchkula, Haryana.
The selection event, held today at Gindum Stadium, Srinagar, was supervised by Raja Ghulam Nabi Wani, Chairman of the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association. A merit-based evaluation process, conducted under the strict observation of the J&K Sports Council, ensured complete transparency and fairness.
Chairman Wani, addressing the athletes, lauded their exceptional dedication and performance.
“It is truly inspiring to witness such remarkable talent emerging from Jammu and Kashmir. These young athletes have exhibited exceptional skill and unwavering dedication, and I am fully confident that they will represent our Union Territory with distinction,” he stated.
Wani reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to grassroots sports development, emphasizing the importance of fostering discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship among young athletes. He also extended his gratitude to the J&K Sports Council for its continuous support in improving local sports infrastructure.
Highlighting the significance of the upcoming championship, Wani said:
“This championship is not only an opportunity to compete but also a chance for our players to gain invaluable experience against some of the best in the country.”
Prior to their departure for Panchkula, the selected athletes will undergo an intensive training camp to ensure peak preparedness. The sporting community across Jammu and Kashmir eagerly awaits their performance and stands in unified support of their national endeavor.
