
Jammu, June 13: The Jammu & Kashmir Swimming Team, comprising eight swimmers—four men and four women—was flagged off on Saturday morning from the MAM Stadium, Jammu, for participation in the 79th Senior National Aquatic Championships–2026.
The team was flagged off by Amar Singh Club Secretary, Vijay Saraf, in the presence of Jammu & Kashmir Swimming Association President S. Ramandeep Singh Soodan, General Secretary Bharat Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary and Coach Babita Rani, coaches Kuldeep Singh, Ajay Kumar, and Pradyul, former President Jagbir Singh Soodan, along with other office-bearers, swimmers, and their family members.
The championship will be held at the Aquatic Complex, Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from June 16 to 21, 2026. The event is being organized by the Gujarat State Aquatic Association under the auspices of the Swimming Federation of India.
The Jammu & Kashmir contingent includes Musa Pervaiz Malik, Abhishake Sharma, Aditya Pratap Singh, and Mukhtar Ahmed Bhat in the men’s category, while Chitrangna Sharma, Anahitam Gupta, Tegmeet Kour, and Avnee Aethmea will represent the Union Territory in the women’s section.
The team will be accompanied by Coach Babita Rani and Manager Jangvir Singh. Association officials expressed confidence that the swimmers would deliver commendable performances and bring laurels to Jammu & Kashmir at the prestigious national event.
