Jammu, Sep 21: The first important meeting to chalk out preparations for the 9th National Master Games-2027 was held in Jammu, bringing together office-bearers of the Super Master Games Federation and the Jammu and Kashmir Master Games Association to discuss arrangements for the upcoming national sporting event.

The meeting was chaired by Vinod Kumar, CEO of the Super Master Games Federation. Detailed discussions were held on the overall planning and arrangements required to ensure the successful and well-organised conduct of the national championship.
The 9th National Master Games-2027 will be held in Jammu and Kashmir from March 13 to 16, 2027. More than 3,000 Masters Athletes from around 25 states across the country are expected to participate in the event. Athletes will report on March 12, while the grand opening ceremony of the national championship will be held on March 13.
The championship will be organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Master Games Association. The process of finalising various sporting venues and facilities for the event has already begun.
Following the meeting, officials of the Super Master Games Federation and the Jammu and Kashmir Master Games Association jointly inspected various sports grounds and proposed venues. During the inspection, the officials reviewed the condition of the grounds, facilities available for athletes and arrangements required for the smooth conduct of competitions.
Vinod Kumar, CEO of the Super Master Games Federation, directed the concerned officials to ensure that athletes face no inconvenience during the championship. He emphasised timely provision of essential facilities at all venues, preparation of sports grounds according to competition requirements, and adequate basic, medical and other facilities for participating athletes.
The National Master Games will feature competitions in 20 sporting disciplines, including athletics, handball, volleyball, basketball, badminton, archery, hockey, football, kabaddi, tennis-ball cricket, table tennis, powerlifting, weightlifting, swimming, yoga, dart games, shooting, judo, pickleball and arm wrestling.
Roller skating, chess, karate, lawn tennis, rope skipping, fencing, kho kho and cycling will also be introduced as new disciplines during this edition of the national event.
According to the organisers, comprehensive arrangements will be made for accommodation, food, medical assistance, transportation and other essential requirements for athletes arriving from different parts of the country. Winners and runners-up who excel in their respective events will be presented with medals and honours.
Those present during the meeting and venue inspection from the Master Games Federation included CEO Vinod Kumar, Director Administration Advocate Tejasvi Sharma, Director Sports Raj Kumar Rana, Director Bakshi Chand Jaswal, Executive Kewal Ram, Manoj Kumar, Office Executive Vikrant Koundal and National Media Head Pravinder Sharma.
Representing the Jammu and Kashmir Master Games Association were President Ranjit Singh Chib, General Secretary Neeti Kour, Sh Somraj Gupta, Sh Sanjay Puri, Sh Nariender Mahajan, Sh Rameshwar Singh Manhas, Sh Kuljit Singh Jamwal and Smt Mamta Bajaj.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to move ahead with preparations through close coordination between the federation and the association, with a focus on making the upcoming national championship grand, well-organised and athlete-friendly.
The organisers expressed confidence that the 9th Master Games National-2027 in Jammu and Kashmir will provide athletes from across the country with a memorable sporting experience and further contribute to promoting sports and active lifestyles among Masters athletes.
