
Anantnag, July 11: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) on Saturday organised a day-long Hussaini Poetic Symposium at Khanqah-e-Hyderi, Aishmuqam, commemorating the timeless message of sacrifice, truth, justice and human dignity embodied by the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).
The programme was presided over by Dr. Sameer Siddique, Patron of Khanqah-e-Hyderi, while noted scholar and writer Nadir Ahsan attended as the chief guest.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an, followed by a welcome address from Jawaid Iqbal Khan, Editor (Kashmiri), JKAACL. He highlighted the enduring relevance of the message of Karbala, describing it as a universal symbol of truth, courage, justice and resistance against oppression.
Delivering the keynote address, Riyaz Ahmed Riyaz reflected on the philosophy of Karbala and the universal teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), saying that the message of Karbala continues to inspire humanity to uphold truth, justice, compassion and steadfastness in the face of oppression.
In his presidential address, Dr. Sameer Siddique said the life and martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) remain a guiding light for humanity, inspiring righteousness, compassion and moral integrity. He urged people to imbibe the values of Karbala in contemporary society.
Chief guest Nadir Ahsan described Karbala as an eternal lesson in sacrifice, steadfastness and the triumph of truth over falsehood. He called upon people to draw inspiration from the teachings of Imam Hussain (AS) in addressing present-day moral and social challenges.
A highlight of the event was the Hussaini poetic session, where poets presented verses paying tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala. Their poetry eloquently reflected the enduring values of faith, sacrifice, justice and unwavering commitment to truth.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather, who appreciated the guests, poets, participants and organisers for making the symposium a success. The proceedings were conducted by Maqbool Sajid.
