October 27, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Jammu, Oct 26: A lady officer of Jammu and Kashmir Police has been nominated for an international assignment with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

Inspector Sanjeewan Jyoti, presently serving as the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Women Police Station, Jammu, has been nominated for the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, said an official.
The UN Mission operates in a challenging environment and has a mandate that includes protection of civilians, support for peace implementation and the promotion of human rights.
Jyoti’s nomination brings the role of women officers in law enforcement into focus, particularly their contribution to policing, community engagement and the handling of cases involving women.
As SHO of the Women Police Station in Jammu, she is entrusted with responsibilities related to the supervision of police work, handling of complaints, coordination of investigations and ensuring appropriate legal action in cases falling within the station’s jurisdiction.
The proposed international assignment under UNMISS would provide Jyoti an opportunity to contribute to a multinational environment where policing forms part of broader efforts to protect civilians, uphold human rights and support peace and security.
