JKPICCA holds AGM, charts roadmap for J&K horticulture growth

December 01, 2025 | BK News Service

The Jammu & Kashmir Fruits & Vegetable Processing & Integrated Cold Chain Association (JKPICCA) successfully held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, bringing together members from across the region to deliberate on key developments and future strategies for the horticulture and cold chain sectors. The meeting, held in hybrid mode, witnessed active participation from members who joined both physically and virtually, reflecting the association’s commitment to inclusive governance.

During the AGM, members discussed crucial issues related to fruit and vegetable processing, integrated cold chain infrastructure, technological upgrades, policy frameworks, and the broader horticulture value chain. Several important decisions were taken to strengthen the sector and enhance its efficiency, sustainability, and market competitiveness.
A special note of appreciation was extended to the visionary leadership driving Jammu & Kashmir’s agricultural transformation. The Association acknowledged the pivotal contributions of the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha, whose forward-looking approach led to the formulation of the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP). His role in establishing the prestigious Mangla Rai Committee was hailed as a landmark step that laid the scientific and structural foundation for sector-wide reforms.
The Association also recognized the dynamic leadership of Chief Secretary Atal Dullo, whose strategic coordination ensured the effective implementation of HADP across agriculture, horticulture, and allied sectors. Gratitude was further extended to former Hon’ble Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah, Hon’ble Agriculture Minister Jenab Javed Dar, and Additional Chief Secretary Shailendra Kumar for their continued efforts in strengthening J&K’s horticulture economy.
JKPICCA emphasized that recent initiatives—including high-density apple plantations, advanced cold storage systems, scientific orchard practices, and global technological interventions—have transformed J&K’s fruit industry into a modern, year-round, innovation-driven enterprise.
Concluding the AGM, the Association extended a vote of thanks to all participating members, the executive committee, office bearers, and the technical support team for ensuring a successful and seamless session. JKPICCA reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthening Jammu & Kashmir’s horticulture and cold chain ecosystem in the years to come.
