Building a cohesive team in public sector service delivery organizations is often fraught with challenges due to entrenched work cultures and stereotyped working patterns. However, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in Jammu has demonstrated remarkable progress through dedicated efforts to improve service efficiency.
A significant challenge for the EPFO has been the system’s reduced speed during peak working hours, which can hinder claim processing. To overcome this, volunteers were sought to capitalize on the system’s speed during non-peak hours. Among those who stepped up was Sanjeev Kumar, Senior Social Security Assistant (SSSA), who not only volunteered for flexi hours but also exemplified the qualities of an exceptional team player.
In a remarkable display of dedication, Sanjeev Kumar processed over 800 claims on three separate occasions in a single day. Most recently, on August 26, 2024, he achieved the extraordinary feat of processing 918 claims—an accomplishment that stands out in an organization like EPFO. His efforts have inspired others within the team, including Subhash and Shesh Kumar, both SSSAs, who processed 213 and 231 claims on August 25 and 26, respectively, with critical support from Shri Ashwani Kumar, Programmer.
Rizwan Uddin, the Provident Fund Commissioner, commended these employees for their exemplary dedication, emphasizing that such efforts deserve appropriate recognition. The commitment shown by Sanjeev Kumar and his colleagues serves as a shining example of what can be achieved through teamwork and innovation, even within the challenging environment of public sector service delivery.
