
Jammu, Mar 27: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo finalized arrangements for the first-ever international marathon in Jammu, scheduled for March 29, 2026, at M A Stadium. Around 4,000 runners, including 91 international participants, are expected to take part in three categories: Half Marathon (21 km), 10 km Fitness Run, and 5 km Fun Run.
The marathon will feature separate prizes for men, women, and local participants, with a total prize pool of ₹1.33 crore. Half Marathon winners will receive up to ₹15 lakh for first place, while 10 km and 5 km winners will earn up to ₹5 lakh and ₹1 lakh respectively.
Dulloo directed all departments to ensure international-standard arrangements, including route safety, traffic management, medical preparedness, and volunteer deployment. A permanent Steering Committee, chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism, will oversee future events to promote Jammu as a destination for marathon tourism.
Preparations, including route planning, separate turnaround points, and departmental responsibilities, were reviewed, with volunteers from Scouts & Guides and schools aiding in smooth conduct of the event.
