Jammu, Aug 27: Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) on Thursday signed an agreement with PMI Electro Mobility Solutions Private Limited for adding 25 electric buses to the city’s public transport fleet under the Government of India’s PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar was present during the signing, which was carried out by JSCL Chief Executive Officer Dr. Devansh Yadav and PMI Electro Mobility Solutions COO–SPV Operations Chandra Kant Goyal.
Jammu currently operates 100 electric buses. The addition of 25 more will strengthen the city’s clean public transport network and expand access to sustainable urban mobility.
The new buses will operate from the Bhagwati Nagar Depot, which is being developed by JSCL as a dedicated electric bus and mobility facility. The foundation stone for the depot was laid earlier this month by the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the event, PMI Electro Mobility Solutions presented its electric bus models and highlighted passenger-oriented features, while JSCL briefed the leadership on the PM e-Bus Sewa project, fleet expansion and the status of depot infrastructure.
Ramesh Kumar said the expansion of electric public transport would help meet Jammu’s growing mobility needs and contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable city.
Dr. Devansh Yadav said the agreement would take Jammu’s electric mobility journey forward while creating the infrastructure needed to support a larger public transport network.
Under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme, 100 additional electric buses are planned for Jammu. The remaining 75 buses are proposed to be added through a unified national procurement process being managed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
With the existing 100 buses and the planned addition of 100 more, Jammu’s electric bus fleet could reach 200 buses, marking a significant expansion of clean urban transportation.
The initiative assumes added importance as Jammu continues to grow as a centre for administration, tourism, commerce and economic activity. The expanded electric fleet and Bhagwati Nagar Depot are expected to strengthen public transport while supporting the city’s transition towards cleaner and more efficient mobility.
