Ukhrul , July 11: Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF) and Manipur Police, has launched a large-scale search operation in the Nungshang area of Ukhrul district following the July 6 ambush in which two Assam Rifles personnel lost their lives in the line of duty.

The joint operation, which began on July 10, is aimed at tracing those responsible for the attack, recovering hidden arms and ammunition caches, and strengthening security across the affected region.
Security personnel are carrying out intensive combing operations in residential areas, vulnerable routes and adjoining forested terrain, while maintaining close coordination to prevent any further threat to civilians and security forces.
Officials said the operation is being conducted with a focus on safeguarding local residents while systematically searching suspected hideouts and areas that could be used for movement or concealment by the perpetrators.
The multi-agency operation reflects the coordinated approach adopted by the security forces to enhance area domination, maintain law and order and ensure that those involved in the ambush are brought to justice.
The search operation is continuing, with security forces maintaining heightened vigilance across the district. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to restoring peace and normalcy in the region while ensuring the safety and security of the local population.
