Joint ops in Manipur nab 11 terrorists , seize arms & narcotics

September 09, 2025 | BK News Service

In a major counter-insurgency success, joint intelligence-based operations conducted from August 31 to September 6 by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Manipur Police, have led to the apprehension of 11 active insurgents and the recovery of a cache of arms, narcotics, and war-like stores.

The operations were carried out across both hill and valley districts of Manipur, including Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Chandel, Thoubal, Kakching, Imphal West, and Imphal East—areas that have witnessed heightened tensions and sporadic violence in recent months.
According to sources in the security establishment, the operations were meticulously planned based on actionable intelligence and aimed at flushing out underground cadres responsible for fueling unrest and illegal activities in the region.
Narcotics, indicating possible insurgent-drug trafficking links
The arrested individuals are believed to be active members of various insurgent outfits operating in the state. They have been handed over to the police for further investigation, and their interrogation is expected to yield critical leads on the wider militant network and its financial/logistical support structures.
The joint efforts come as part of #SpearCorps’ ongoing initiative to restore law and order in the violence-hit state. With Manipur witnessing prolonged ethnic and communal unrest since May 2023, security forces have maintained a high level of operational readiness, especially in sensitive and conflict-prone districts.
A senior Army official confirmed:
"These operations demonstrate the strong synergy between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police. The apprehensions and seizures are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle insurgent infrastructure and restore peace in the region."
Officials emphasized that continued intelligence-sharing and community engagement are crucial for sustained peace. They also urged local communities to support the forces by reporting suspicious activities and promoting dialogue over violence.
With tensions still simmering in parts of Manipur, security forces are expected to continue their area domination exercises, search operations, and confidence-building measures in coordination with local administrations.
