Joint security operations in Manipur lead to arrest of nine militants

Imphal, July 13: In a major counter-insurgency success, joint security forces apprehended nine suspected militant cadres and recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, explosives and other war-like stores during a series of intelligence-based operations conducted across Manipur between July 4 and July 11.

The coordinated operations were launched by formations of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps, in close coordination with the Manipur Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
According to official sources, the operations were carried out in both the hill and valley districts of Kakching, Imphal East, Churachandpur and Bishnupur, based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence and movement of militant elements.
During the week-long operations, security forces successfully apprehended nine suspected cadres belonging to various insurgent outfits. In addition, they recovered live ammunition, explosives and other war-like stores, dealing a significant blow to the operational capabilities of the militant groups active in the region.
Officials said the operations were meticulously planned and executed with seamless coordination among the participating security agencies, reflecting the effectiveness of intelligence sharing and joint operational planning.
The apprehended individuals, along with the recovered arms and other incriminating material, have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Security agencies said such intelligence-driven operations will continue across the state to dismantle insurgent networks, prevent violence and ensure the safety and security of the people.
The Indian Army reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, CRPF and other security agencies to maintain peace and stability in the region through sustained counter-insurgency and area domination operations.
The latest operation underscores the continued efforts of the security forces to curb militant activities, recover illegal weapons and strengthen the security environment across Manipur.
