Kachhama Shahins clinch Jhelum cup title

Baramulla, July 13: Kachhama Shahins emerged champions of the Jhelum Cup Edition-2 2025, defeating Fatehgarh Eleven by 62 runs in an exciting final played at Zoo Ground, Narvaw, on Sunday. The tournament was organized by the Narvaw Sports Association.

Batting first after winning the toss, Kachhama Shahins posted an imposing total of 214 runs. Rashid Manzoor starred with an unbeaten 78-run knock, smashing seven fours and six sixes, and was deservedly named Player of the Final. Saqib Ashraf provided a late flourish with a quickfire 18 off just six deliveries.
Chasing 215 for victory, Fatehgarh Eleven were bowled out for 152 runs despite spirited efforts from Tanveer Bhangi, who scored 39 off 18 balls, and Khan Daan, who contributed 31 off 20. For the champions, Aashiq Malik claimed three wickets for 30 runs, while Sheikh Manzoor picked up two wickets for 25 runs.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by General Secretary of the Narvaw Sports Association, Er. Malik Yaseen Hassan, as the chief guest. Among the other distinguished guests were Mohammad Yousuf Sheeri, Dr. Altaf, Mohammad Saeed Malik, Er. Shabir Ahmad Lone and former Sarpanchs of Narvaw.
The winner's trophy was presented to Kachhama Shahins by Er. Malik Yaseen Hassan. During the ceremony, the Association also honoured him with a special award in recognition of his contribution to sports promotion and social welfare. Distinguished guests were felicitated with memento trophies.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Organizer Mohammad Ayoub Fafu said Er. Malik Yaseen Hassan has made significant contributions to the Association and has consistently supported its activities, making him a deserving recipient of the honour. Tariq Ahmad Rather described him as a respected personality who has always remained at the forefront of public welfare initiatives.
Addressing the gathering, Er. Malik Yaseen Hassan thanked all participating teams, match officials and spectators for making the tournament a success. He also appreciated the efforts of Association President Malik Jameel, Vice President Ali Mohammad and the entire organizing committee for the smooth conduct of the event.
The Narvaw Sports Association congratulated Kachhama Shahins on winning the title and commended Fatehgarh Eleven for their spirited performance throughout the tournament.
