Kaifiyat, Haal and Maqaam

Tawakkul means complete submission to Allah's will without getting discouraged by pain and sorrow and finally the stage of Rida means attainment of eternal peace , joy and contentment by communion with Allah

Kaifiyat , Haal and Maqaam are three different states with former two being used often interchangeably. Briefly, Kafiyat is endurable in nature, Haal is restless like the waves hitting the shore and finally Maqaam is enduring in nature and ever progressing from the bottom-line as per say....! All the people have to suffer the mentioned states while some pass through all while others may be in either of the three depending upon how one's spiritual conscience is being fed and how Allah justifies his mercy over them. The first two stations or states are the ones over whom one has no control rather they are called the receiving stations while the last one is acquired through the exertion of effort while passing through different stages and each preceding station being permanent though not universal.
" Har ik maqam sey aagey maqam hai tera
Zindagii zok e safar key siwa kuch aor nahin"
Kaifiyat is ones emotional being and Hal is a series of enlightened moments. Therefore , we can say, Hal is wahbi. And the Maqaam is Kasbi. In fact , Kaifiyat , Hal and Maqam are the final stages of each preceding one. When the first stage ripens and becomes consistent in nature , it bears the fruit of the next one. Thus, we can say hal is the fruit of Kaifiyat, so on and so forth.
Some of the common stations being Tawba, Wara, Zuhd, Faqr, Ṣabr, Tawakkul, and Rida.
Tawba here doesn't only mean oath to refrain from sins but in reality means detrainment from every thing that's puts a veil between the man and the Allah. Similarly, Wara means fear of not getting communion or the glance of Allah Almighty rather than the fear of hell fire. Zuhd means renunciation or detachment from the worldly possessions and filling of ones heart with the love and possession of the lone Allah. Faqr means becoming independent of the world and what is in it and become the slave of Allah. While Sabr me and patience and steadfastness in the path of Allah, Tawakkul means complete submission to Allah's will without getting discouraged by pain and sorrow and finally the stage of Rida means attainment of eternal peace , joy and contentment by communion with Allah.
Allah says in the Quran, He attracts towards himself whomsoever he wishes and in another place, Allah says , He guides those towards himself who turn to him in repentance. The former is called the manner of jazb while the latter as sulook. The former being involuntary act while the latter being voluntary. Thus, it is evident that Allah attracts the man towards himself through one or the other way. In fact , Allah says in the wholly qur'an:
"Wama Khalaqtal jinn o wal insa' ila liya'bodoon"
Here, scholars say "yabo doon" means "li yarif oon" , which means acquanting one self with the Allah. Thus, the sole purpose of ones being is to get the communion of Allah and how much one is in the vicinity of Allah is understood through one's kaifiyat, hal and maqaam. The more permanent is one in the coming state, the more close is he to the Allah.
However, one must accept that a man can not understand rather gauge the state of one's being through our ordinary eyes but it requires the special blessings from Allah called Ma'rifat. Ma'rifat also known by the term Hikma is the mystical knowledge of God or the “higher realities” that is the ultimate goal of the avid ones in their pursuit. Those who reach this final stage are the beings whom Allah praises that they see with my eyes, they here with my ears and et al. These are the ones of whom Allah orders Gibrael to praise as He himself praises them.
At last but not least, lets implore Allah to help us attain the highest state by putting us under the shadow of his mercy....!!!
