The final match of the Shaheed Constable Abdul Rashid Mir Memorial Football Tournament culminated today at B.N Gazi Stadium Qazipora, Bandipora.
Organized by the 3rd BN CRPF Bandipora, the tournament aimed to engage local youth in sports activities and steer them away from drug abuse.
A total of 16 teams from various parts of the district participated in the tournament, which followed a league round format.
In the final, Kaloosa FC emerged victorious, defeating the runner up team with a 4-2 scoreline.
The winning team was awarded a trophy, medals, and a cash prize of Rs. 31,000 while the runner-up team received a trophy, medals, and a cash prize of Rs. 21,000.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, was the chief guest on the occasion besides the event was also attended by Padmashree Faisal Ali Dar, officers from CRPF and other concerned ۔
Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized the critical role of sports in combating drug abuse. He highlighted that the youth are key ambassadors in the fight against the drug menace and that organizing and participating in such events is part of a broader strategy to address the issue of drug menace.
He also assured that necessary sports infrastructure would be developed to nurture local talent and encourage future participation in such activities.
The DC congratulated both the winning and runner-up teams for their remarkable performances and for reaching the final stage of the competition.
