
The Indian Army on Saturday organised a musical event showcasing the rich culture of Kashmir at Kalaphar Brigade ground in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The event witnessed a record turnout of locals who enjoyed the melodious numbers presented by the renowned singer Waqar Khan and Punjabi singer Gursaaz.
The students of Army Goodwill (AGW) Uri thrilled the audience with rouf and communal harmony dance. A cultural show depicting the rich heritage of Uri was put together by team 360, a local youth group.
The Army said that the event was aimed to highlight the heritage and cultural flamboyance of Uri and Kashmir by promoting the local talent of the area.
The event coincided with Uri Mela in which amusement rides and food, game stalls drew a large crowd, who thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the event.
The event was graced by local dignitaries from different walks of life. The locals expressed gratitude towards the Indian Army for organising this event.
While speaking to the Brighter Kashmir, a senior Army official of Kalaphar Brigade said that they have kept the Kaman Post open for all the visitors.
“We are working to promote the border tourism and Kaman Post is helping us a lot. It is open to all and people can visit it," he said during the sidelines of the event.
Regarding the queries about non- locals not being allowed to visit Kaman Post without NOCs, the officer said, "I have taken up this matter with the civil administration and are looking for the modalities to resolve this issue," he added.
