Varanasi/Muzaffarpur, Aug 15: Dharmasangh Shikshamandal in Durgakund, the sacred ground associated with Dharmasamrat Swami Karpatri Ji Maharaj, hosted an All-India Shastra Seminar on Sunday as part of the "Karpatra Prakatya Mahotsav." The seminar, themed "Holistic Education and the Vision of Dharmasamrat," was attended by Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai, Vice-Chancellor of BR Ambedkar Bihar University, as chief guest. The dais featured a distinguished gathering of monks, educationists, vice-chancellors, and Vedic scholars, while a large number of researchers and teachers were present in the audience.
In his address, Prof. Rai observed that the educational vision of Dharmasamrat Swami Karpatri Ji Maharaj offers living guidance for today's systems. While modern science and knowledge are essential, he said, education remains incomplete unless it is anchored in Indian wisdom, ethical values, and cultural roots. He noted that the National Education Policy 2020 has opened the door to a renaissance of Indian identity in learning.
Speaking on the fundamental purpose of education, Prof. Rai said its goal is not merely securing a good job but learning to live meaningfully and to serve. He invoked the ancient teaching that true knowledge is that which liberates a person from ignorance, fear, and ego. Turning to AI and emerging technologies, he cautioned that if knowledge expands while sensitivity diminishes, such education remains incomplete - what is needed is a balance of knowledge with values, and of science with discernment.
Reflecting on the significance of Kashi, Prof. Rai remarked that the city is not merely a town but a university in itself, one that teaches that modernity and tradition are not adversaries. He added that a university's identity is defined not by its buildings but by the character of its students and the commitment of its teachers. Prof. Rai concluded his remarks with a resolve: knowledge for progress, values for strength, character for leadership, and education for nation-building.
Following the seminar, Prof. Rai also took part in a dialogue with resident monks and scholars, engaging in discussions on cultural and spiritual advancement.
The university's academic and alumni community congratulated Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rai on his dignified participation in the event, describing it as a significant step toward harmonizing education and culture. Among those extending congratulations were Prof. B. S. Rai, Prof. Kanupriya, Prof. Rajeev Kumar, Dr. Shartendu Shekhar, Dr. Amar Bahadur Shukla, and Dr. Navin Kumar, among others.
