
LG Sinha condoles loss of lives
In a tragic incident, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Ramnagar, Udhampur Rajendra Singh and his son were killed and three of his family members injured when a landslide triggered by rains struck their vehicle in Salukh Ikhtar Nala area of Reasi on Friday.
According to officials, the family was returning to their native village Pattiyan from Dharmaadi when the landslide hit their Bolero vehicle, burying it under debris.
The sudden slide, triggered by continuous rainfall in the area, proved fatal for the officer and his son.
The security force personnel, police, civil administration personnel and locals rushed to the spot to launch the rescue operation.
During the rescue operation, the bodies of the SDM and his son were recovered from the vehicle while three other occupants of the car including his wife and two relatives had sustained injuries in the incident.
They have been rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors are attending to them.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed shock and grief over the loss of lives in a landslide in Reasi.
He has conveyed his condolences and sympathies to the kin of Rajinder Singh, JKAS 2011, SDM Ramnagar, Udhampur.
“Extremely saddened by the landslide incident in Dharmari, Reasi in which we have lost an outstanding officer Sh Rajinder Singh, JKAS 2011, SDM Ramnagar and his son. The tragedy is heart-wrenching. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family and I pray that the injured recover quickly,” the LG said.
