Srinagar, July 18: Minister for Education Sakina Itoo on Saturday announced that summer vacation for all Government and recognized private schools in Kashmir Division and the winter zones of Jammu Division has been extended up to July 22.
Announcing the decision on X, Itoo said the extension has been made in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
"In view of the prevailing weather conditions, it has been decided to extend the summer vacation for all Government and recognized private schools in the Kashmir Division and the winter zones of Jammu Division up to 22nd July (Wednesday)," she said.
The decision comes as Kashmir is in grip of intense heatwave with Srinagar today recording the hottest day of the season.
The parents and civil society members had urged the government to extend the summer vacations in view of intense heatwave in the Valley.
