
The Handicrafts and Handloom Department, Kashmir, today launched DesignNweave, an indigenous software developed by the Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT) and NIELIT Srinagar to digitize and modernize traditional carpet and textile designs.
The software, designed to support the traditional Taleem Design System, offers features like simplified navigation, a rich library of patterns, instant preview, smooth data exchange, and single-user licensing. It aims to empower artisans and designers, including those in remote areas, to innovate and enhance production efficiency.
Director Handicrafts and Handloom Mussarat Islam said the initiative bridges traditional craftsmanship with digital tools, expanding global reach and market opportunities. Licensed access will be provided to stakeholders at nominal charges through IICT Srinagar.
