Kashmiri and Urdu languages are vital connect as means of communication in North India and both have rich legacy of Sanskrit and Persian which stands amalgamated to represent diverse cultures of India.
This was stated by Editor-in-Chief of Brighter Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Wani, who was addressing a gathering here after signing of MoU between Central University of Kashmir (CUK), University of Kashmir (KU) and Vigyan Prasar (VP), New Delhi, to disseminate the scientific knowledge through Kashmiri and Urdu.
“Why do our children shy away from speaking Kashmiri in schools or colleges or Universities. As Kashmiris we should feel proud of its legacy and tradition and no culture survives if its language is lost. The onus lies on all of us to promote Kashmiri and Urdu also which represents rich Hindustani tradition,” said Farooq Wani.
He urged intellectuals and academicians to organize lectures and talks to promote Kashmiri language.
