
Magam, April, 4: Today, a prestigious literary and cultural event was organized at Government High School Badran Magam by Gulshan Cultural Forum Kashmir and Jammu and Kashmir in colloboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages on the occasion of the 77th death anniversary of the historic writer, poet, teacher and literary historian Abdul Ahad Azad. Leading Kashmiri writers participated in the event and expressed their views regarding Azad’s academic, literary and research works. The first, second and third sessions of the event were presided over by renowned intellectual and former Additional Director General of Doordarshan Dr. Rafiq Masoodi, renowned writer, critic and Sheikh-e-Alam-Shanas Dr. Ghulam Nabi Haleem and Forum President Syed Bashir Kausar, while renowned broadcaster and writer Nisar Naseem, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool and Academy representatives Dr. Syed Iftikhar and Ali Mohammad Gowhar were present as special guests. The keynote address was delivered by Forum President Syed Bashir Kausar, while renowned broadcaster Gulshan Badrani and Khurshid Khamosh presented Azad’s concept of tolerance and his humanitarian message in a unique manner during the event. A planned poetry recital was a prominent aspect of the event in which many prominent poets of the Kashmiri language participated and paid tribute to Azad, including Latif Niazi, Maqbool Sheeda, Khurshid Khamosh, Ali Muhammad Gowhar, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, Mumtaz Goph Bali, Ashiq Mukhami, Mehboob Bilal, Zamrooda Anjuman and Idrees Badrani. Remembering Azad, other speakers mentioned Azad's patriotism, philanthropy and literary devotion and called him an unparalleled literary warrior. Whose teachings are a bright beacon of Kashmiri identity and survival. It is the need of the hour to popularize Azad's concept of solidarity and message of philanthropy. Renowned singer Shaukat Ahmed Narbali and his colleagues enthralled the audience by presenting Azad's poetry. The invited audience, especially school students and teachers, not only appreciated the program by participating in it, but also actively participated in the literary discussion.
