
In a bid to deepen cross regional cooperation, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SGCCI) held a high level business engagement in Ahmedabad today. Chaired by Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the meeting explored investment opportunities and formalized plans under the 2023 MoU to strengthen trade, tourism, and industrial ties.
Chief Minister Abdullah commended the chamber collaboration and pledged single window facilitation for viable investments in J&K. He emphasized that the initiative must translate into actionable projects yielding visible impact in the short term.
KCCI President Javid Ahmad Tenga reaffirmed commitment to building “sustainable, inclusive and forward looking partnerships,” while SGCCI President Ramesh Vaghasia announced exploring direct investments in areas such as solar, IT/data centres, and electric mobility. Vaghasia underscored SGCCI’s global network presence across 84 countries and its role in helping KCCI members enter new markets.
Officials including Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, MLAs Farooq Ahmad Shah and Altaf Ahmad Kaloo, and Additional Chief Secretary Dheeraj Gupta participated in the discussions. The KCCI delegation featured Secretary General Faiz Ahmad Bakshi, Joint Secretary General Umar Nazir Tibetbaqal, Executive Committee members Amir Manzoor Guna, Muhammad Ibrahim Siah, and other stakeholders.
As a next step, both chambers agreed to form sectoral coordination groups to prepare for the upcoming Surat expo and follow up on concrete investment proposals.
