Khalsa School: Senior teachers terminates `without reason’

March 03, 2020 | BK News Service/Srinagar

Khalsa School here in Kashmir capital Srinagar have shown door to senior teachers, thus creating an atmosphere of chaos and panic among the staff members-who have been working in the school from past two decades.
Some of the terminated teachers are also the members of the Khalsa School Trust. The teachers blamed the newly elected management for the drastic step and said that the newly appointed Principal by the management is calling the shots without taking teachers into confidence.
The irony is that the terminated senior teachers are not being given reason for their termination. The teachers said that Sandeep Kour was appointed in the school in 1998 as a general line teacher and she is also the member of Khalsa Educational Trust. She never received any warnings or notices about her termination. The sudden termination of her services is not justified. Moreover, being the member of the Khalsa Educational Trust should have known about the termination beforehand, but, unfortunately, she was kept in dark.
Similarly other senior teachers including Mehraj Ahmed, Paramjeet Kour, Snober Rasool, Mudasir Ahmed and Firdousa Bano and others were terminated without any prior notices. These terminated teachers are the senior ones who were shocked over the management decisions. “We were shown door for the fault of our none. I have served in the school from past 30 years and yet today I was terminated as I was a new comer,” said one of the teachers.
The terminated teachers have raised the issue with the Director Education who assured them justice. They alleged that newly appointed Principal on the behest of new management is calling shots.
When contacted, General Secretary of Khalsa Higher Secondary School, Vikramjit Singh said that it was a unanimous decision by the management as these teachers failed to rectify their mistakes. (KNT)
