
Fourth and final round of Khelo India Women Wushu League begins. On the first day of the competition, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh opened their account in the medal tally with gold medals.
The competition will be held in three categories.
A total prize money of 60 lakhs will be at stake .An initiative by Sports Authority of India to discover and improve the performance of women athletes.
Goa: 2023 - 2024 would have been the end of the season The Wushu Association of India and Sports Authority of India are in the final stages of organizing zonal competitions for the development and awareness of Wushu among women players in India.Recently, international Wushu player Roshibina Devi has been selected for the Arjuna Award and the number one Wushu athlete in the world. The Wushu Association of India's zonal Wushu Women's League began today.
East North Zone (Dehradun) South Zone (Coimbatore) South Zone (Kokrajhar) Women's League has been successfully completed.
Jitendra Singh Bajwa, President, Wushu Association of India said that we are committed to the development of Wushu across India and our players have established themselves and our efforts by winning medals at the international level.He said that now his priority is to organize senior, junior and sub-junior national competition.
Appreciating the efforts of the Sports Authority of India, he said that due to this, the sport of Wushu has reached its lowest ebb in various states and female talent is emerging. He said that the financial support received by the players through cash awards has inspired them.
A total of 9 states including Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Damandweep and Jharkhand are participating in the tournament.
The Chief Guest and other distinguished guests of the inaugural session of the competition held in Goa were Captain Venji Viegas MLA Benlam Constituency Goa Legislative Assembly, Shri Shankar Anant Chodankat Zilla Panchayat Member Mayam Constituency, Shri Kamalakant Wadiyekar Ex Sarpanch Chodan Village Panchayat, Smt Suvidha Desai Headmistress Government High School Juna Bazar Panda.
In the inaugural ceremony, the oath was taken by outstanding player of Rajasthan Meghna Joshi along with all the participating players.
After which the Wushu game was demonstrated to the guests by the national and international medalists. Colourful cultural programmes were presented by the students of Government High School and Government High School.
The vote of thanks was offered by Vice President Goa Wushu Association Smt. Niyati Chumalakat. The competition began with the singing of the national anthem by the chief guest.
