
Kashmir Markaz-i-Adab-o-Saqafat (KMAS) on Thursday felicitated Professor Zaman Azurda and Professor Shad Ramzan for being given the highest literary award of the country.
“Both the professors have brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir. It is an honour for us to have felicitated such personalities,” Kashmir Markaz-i-Adab-o-Saqafat said in a statement.
Professor Zaman Azurda and Professor Shad Ramzan were recently conferred with the Biswabhusan Harichandan Award in Bangalore.
Professor Zaman Azurda has written about five dozen books and has translated over 2500 poems.
Kashmir Markaz-i-Adab-o-Saqafat also felicitated Professor Shad Ramzan for becoming the convener of Sahita Academy, Kashmir Cell.
The Executive Committee meeting of Kashmir Markaz-i-Adab-o-Saqafat was held under the Chairmanship of Dr Gazanfar Ali, who also serves as President of KMAS.
KMAs meeting was attended by leading writers and essayists of the valley also participated. The meeting was attended by Ahsan Ali, Yunus Waheed, Mushtaq Mahram, Prof Abdul Rashid Shad, GN Adfar, Nazir Salik, Gh Rasool Sadoor, Nazir Salik, Madhosh M Yasin and Saima Ashraf.
KMAS also condemned the baseless allegations against Prof. Zaman Azurda and Prof. Shad Ramzan which were recently published in some of the local news media outlets.
“The use of fabricated stories and vulgar words against elderly, respectable and eminent writers is deplorable. KMAS vehemently rejects such reports and allegations,” KMAS said in the press release.
