KPDCL urges consumers to revise sanctioned load

December 31, 2023 | BK News Service

In a bid to ensure seamless access to electricity and promote efficient energy usage, consumers are being advised to review and possibly revise their sanctioned loads with the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL). The call comes as it has been observed that a sanctioned load as low as 0.75KW may be insufficient for common household appliances, such as a clothes iron.
Consumers are being encouraged to reassess their energy requirements and, if needed, update their agreements to higher sanctioned loads. A noteworthy example highlighted by KPDCL is the recommendation to revise the load to 2KW for the usage of a single geyser. This move is aimed at preventing power shortages and ensuring that consumers have adequate electricity for their daily needs.
Meanwhile, KPDCL conducted a total of 1064 inspections across its service areas. As a result of these inspections, 875 disconnections were implemented due to various reasons, while 83 connections were regularized following necessary compliance. The rigorous inspections are part of KPDCL's ongoing efforts to streamline the distribution network and address issues related to unauthorized connections or non-compliance with regulations.
Additionally, it was reported that 46 transformers suffered damage on Friday, but the swift response from KPDCL resulted in the restoration of 44 transformers, minimizing disruptions to the power supply.
The public is reminded to settle their pending dues promptly to avoid disconnections. KPDCL emphasizes the importance of timely payments to maintain a reliable power supply and ensure the sustainability of the electricity infrastructure. Consumers are urged to cooperate with KPDCL in these endeavors to enhance the overall efficiency of the power distribution system in the region.
