
ADGP Armed J&K Shri S.J.M Gillani-IPS felicitated Inspr. Kuldeep Handoo for being honoured with Dronocharya award by the President of India and his 4thtime successive selection as National Chief Wushu Coach of India for Asian Games scheduled to be held at Hangzhou, China from 10th to 15th September 2022.
The felicitation ceremony held in the APHQ J&K Jammu was attended by Shri Mahmood Ahmed SSP Staff Officer to ADGP Armed J&K, Shri Dushyant Sharma SSP SO Sports APHQ, Shri Sajad Hussain, Pvt. Secy. to ADGP Armed J&K, Shri Abdul Rashid PA to ADGP Armed J&K and I/C Sports Branch APHQ Shri Mohd Hussain.
Dronacharya award carrying a trophy and Rs.10 lakh cash reward was presented to Inspr. Kuldeep Handoo by the President of India through virtual mode and physically by Hon’ble Sports Minister of India Shri Anurag Thakur.
Shri Kuldeep Handoo represented India as National Chief Wushu Coach 3rd times in 18th Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia in which India got 4 Bronze Medals.
Initially he represented India during 16th Asian games held at Guangzhou, China in which India got two Medal (one Silver and one Bronze Medal) under his supervision. Thereafter 2nd time, Shri Handoo represented India in 17th Asian games held in Incheon, Korea in which India won two Bronze Medal.
Shri Kuldeep Handoo has the distinction of being the recipient of State Award by J&K Govt., Sher-i-Kashmir award by J&K Sports Council, Purshoram award for being outstanding Coach in the year 2013, recipient of FICCI Coach of the year award 2016, Rangeel Singh award 2017 and DGP Medal.
As National Chief Coach of India in Wushu, Shri Kuldeep Handoo has remarkable achievements at International level in his credit which include his winning of 1 Gold and 4 Bronze Medals in 14th World Wushu Championship-2017, one Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze in 15th Wushu Championship-2019, 3 Bronze and one Silver in Asia Cup-2017, 4 Bronze and 1 Silver in Shanghai Cooperation Wushu Championship-2019, 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 5 Bronze in 6th PARS Cup Iran-2017, 3 Silver & 7 Bronze in 7th PARS Cup Iran-2019 and 13 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze in 13th SAF Games- Nepal 2019.
Besides, credit of winning 2 Gold, 11 Silver, 14 Bronze Medals in world championships, 1 Gold, 5 Silver, 11 Bronze in World Cup, 1 Silver, 8 Bronze in Asian Games, 7 Silver, 18 Bronze in Asian Championship, 4 Silver and 6 Bronze in Asia Cup besides 4 times overall champion of South Asian Games goes to Shri Kuldeep Handoo in the capacity of National Chief Wushu Coach of India.
