Kupwara girl Bushra Rasool has excelled as calligrapher par excellence with meager resources at her disposal.
Bushra is daughter of late Ghulam Rasool Wani and is a self taught artist who is in 10th standard hailing from district Kupwara.
Bushra is currently pursuing Honours in Mathematics through Central University of Kashmir.
“I have always been interested in art and sketching. Despite being a non-medical student I always manage time for my art because it really makes me happy. I thought of Calligraphy after watching ALIF- a serial as one of my friends suggested to me and this serial dragged me towards calligraphy,” says Bushra.
Bushra affirms that during lockdown while everyone was inside, she started paying attention towards art and Calligraphy.
The artist used to refine art with the help of social media platforms.
“Creativity takes courage, creativity is a continual surprise, creativity is a wild mind, a disciplined eye, don't be afraid of silly ideas.”
Bushra wants to improve as an artist in versatile art and needs more awareness for the betterment of this art.
But she says that unfortunately there are no platforms available for these artists as she participates in many online art competitions.
Her artwork includes English and Arabic calligraphy, doodling, silhouette art, paper crafts, painting.
She also frames calligraphy names, couple frames and Quranic verses.
“My mother and my friends always supported me and I wish my father was alive today and he would have supported me. I'm thankful to Almighty Allah for blessing me.”
