
In the ongoing All India InterUniversity Wushu(Men & Women) Championship, underway at Chandigarh University, Mohammad Saleem clinched a Bronze medal in 60 Kg weight category.
Saleem suffered a severe elbow injury, which required hospitalisation for few hours before returning to ring to play for the bronze medal. Saleem stood strong by displaying grit, determination and resilience thereby defeating Naresh from Manipur, and bringing laurels to the University of Kashmir at All India InterUniversity level competition.
Vice Chancellor KU Prof. Nilofer Khan congratulated Mohammad Saleem on his outstanding feat, acknowledging his perseverance in a highly competitive sport like Wushu.
She further commended Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPE&S) for its persistent efforts in promoting sports at the national level and providing student-athletes with the opportunity to compete in highly competitive tournaments at All India level.
Registrar KU Prof. Naseer Iqbal also extended his congratulations, stating that KU remains at forefront in supporting and facilitating sports activities aligned with National Sports Policy, 2024, launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
Coordinator, DPE&S KU Dr. Surjeet Singh, reiterated the Directorate’s commitment to elevating varsity’s sports ecosystem to new heights.
