The Department of Social Work University of Kashmir held its maiden alumni meet as part of the University's initiative of connecting with its former students.
The event witnessed a good participation of the alumni who are presently serving in different capacities in various departments and organisations across the country.
Faculty members, non-teaching staff, students currently enrolled and scholars of the department were also present.
Dr Shazia Manzoor, Head of the Department, delivered the welcome address and laid emphasis on the importance of conducting the alumni meet and its outcome in strengthening institutional responsibility, credibility, and effective feedback.
Various cultural activities were performed by students, scholars and the alumni, even as the faculty members also shared their views and outlined the role of the alumni towards further academic progression of the department. Some faculty members also shared the success stories of the alumni as a source of encouragement.
Several former students shared their experiences and interesting moments of their campus life and reiterated the need to build linkages for effective development of professional social work in Jammu and Kashmir.
The proceedings of the event were conducted by Zehra Sajud, research scholar of the department, while Dr Sarafraz Ahmad, Assistant Professor of the Department, delivered the vote of thanks.
