
Srinagar, April 10: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bandipora organizsd a Training Programme on “Nutritional Empowerment of Adolescent Girls Through Balanced Diet Promotion” in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Association of Social Workers with the objective of creating awareness among adolescent girls regarding the importance of balanced nutrition, dietary diversification, and adoption of healthy food practices for improved health and well-being.
Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth, Director Extension SKUAST-Kashmir, who was the chief guest at the occasion, delivered a lecture on the significance of proper nutrition during adolescence. She highlighted that adolescence is a critical stage of growth requiring adequate nutrition for proper physical, mental, and overall development. Prof Kanth, at the occasion also invited the participants to avail these opportunities for skill development and livelihood enhancement.
At the outset, Dr. Tariq Sultan, Head, KVK Bandipora elaborated on the objectives and relevance of the programme. He highlighted the role of kitchen gardening and dietary diversification in ensuring household nutritional security. He further stressed the need for continuous awareness programmes to address malnutrition at the grassroots level.
Dr Kulsum Bhat, Project Manager, J&K Association of Social Workers, played a key role in mobilizing adolescent girl participants and emphasized the importance of such awareness initiatives in promoting health, hygiene, and informed dietary practices among young girls.
Scientists from KVK Bandipora and JKASW team members actively participated in the awareness program.
