
Two distinguished Taekwondo athletes from Ladakh were honoured with Certificates of Appreciation and traditional Khataks by the District Administration on the eve of the 79th Independence Day at Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium.
International Para Taekwondo player Rinchen Youdol, Gold Medalist at the Asian Para Taekwondo Championship, and International Taekwondo player & State Awardee Shahnaz Parveen, who represented India at the World University Games in Germany, received the honours from CEC LAHDC Kargil Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, the chief guest on the occasion.
President, Ladakh Taekwondo Association, Gulzar Hussain Munshi expressed gratitude to LAHDC Kargil, the District Administration, and the Department of Youth Services and Sports for recognising the achievements of the athletes and encouraging them on such a significant national occasion.
He extended special thanks to President, India Taekwondo & Vice President, Commonwealth Taekwondo Federation, Namdev Shirgaonkar for raising the sport to a level where talented athletes get the opportunity to represent India at international platforms.
Munshi also appreciated the continuous support of the Youth Services and Sports Department, UT Ladakh, especially Joint Director Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, as well as MP Ladakh Haji Hanifa Jan, CEC LAHDC Kargil, LAHDC Leh, DC Kargil, and DC Leh for their role in promoting the sport.
He conveyed heartfelt thanks to Master Atul Pangotra for his dedicated training and guidance to UT Ladakh athletes, which has led the association to secure five State Awards—a remarkable achievement for any sports organisation in the region.
