Srinagar, Aug 13: Srinagar’s historic Lal Chowk has been decked up in the colours of the Tricolour ahead of the 80th Independence Day, adding a patriotic vibrancy to one of the Valley’s most prominent landmarks.

The iconic Clock Tower and adjoining areas have been illuminated and decorated as part of the preparations for the August 15 celebrations. The festive makeover has transformed the bustling city centre into a prominent symbol of the Independence Day spirit.
The decorations have been undertaken ahead of the national celebration, with authorities and civic agencies stepping up arrangements across Srinagar to ensure that public spaces reflect the significance of the occasion.
Lal Chowk, known for its historic and political significance, has witnessed a visible change ahead of Independence Day, with the Tricolour prominently displayed around the area. The decorations have also added to the festive atmosphere for residents, visitors and shopkeepers.
The preparations are part of wider Independence Day arrangements across Jammu and Kashmir, where full-dress rehearsals, cultural programmes, patriotic activities and public outreach events have been organised in the run-up to August 15.
