LG Manoj Sinha honours organ donors at ‘Naman Diwas’ in Jmu

April 27, 2026 | BK News Service

Jammu, April 26: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday attended ‘Naman Diwas’, an event dedicated to honouring organ donors and their families, and paid tribute to their life-saving contributions.

Expressing deep gratitude, the Lieutenant Governor said organ donors have brought hope and happiness to countless lives. “Because of you, someone can read today. Someone is seeing the colours of the world for the first time. Someone is experiencing hope, freedom, and joy anew. No award can ever truly capture the value of your gift,” he said.
Addressing families of cornea and kidney donors, Sinha described them as true role models and heroes of society, emphasising that organ donation represents the highest form of selfless giving.
Reflecting on its moral and cultural significance, he noted, “The measure of life is not in what we accumulate, but in what we give. Those we honour today have given the most precious gift of all—the gift of life itself.”
He also highlighted that organ donation is regarded as one of the noblest acts across cultures and urged citizens to pledge for it. “Each one of us is a potential donor and holds the extraordinary power to save lives even after we are gone,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor commended the efforts of the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO J&K) for raising awareness through campaigns, hospital partnerships, NGO collaborations, and training of medical professionals to handle organ donation sensitively.
He encouraged the organisation to further intensify outreach and increase registrations through community engagement and dialogue.
Sinha also noted that he had personally pledged for organ donation last year by registering on the Ayushman Bharat Organ Donation Registry under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Calling for wider awareness, he urged that the message of organ donation be spread across social networks, educational institutions, workplaces, and places of worship.
Addressing cultural and religious concerns, he said that traditions across faiths uphold the sanctity of life and the virtue of selfless giving. “Organ donation is one of the most profound expressions of compassion. Even after life ends, a person can give sight, dignity, and hope to others,” he added.
