
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Fiday has constituted a high-level three-member committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Department of Jal Shakti, J&K, to enquire reasons behind landslide incident at Vaishno Devi track occurred on August 26, 2025
An order issued by Lieutenant Governor J&K, who is also Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board stated that a high-level three-member Committee, headed by Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Department of Jal Shakti, J&K has been constituted to inquire into the reasons behind the tragic landslide incident near Adhkuwari on Vaishno Devi track in Reasi district on August 26.
The Committee shall comprise of Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Department of Jal Shakti, J&K; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; and Inspector General of Police, Jammu.
The Committee shall examine in detail the causes and reasons behind the incident and point out any lapses. It shall access responses in the form of rescue and relief measures undertaken.
The Committee will suggest appropriate SOPs and measures for preventing recurrence of such incidents in future.
The Committee shall submit its report within two weeks to the Chairman Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
