Urges faculty to build ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’
Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, inaugurated the Amphitheatre and Administrative Block at the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Tulmulla campus, marking a historic milestone for the institution. Addressing newly inducted faculty and administrative staff, he emphasized their crucial role in preparing Kashmiri youth to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and equipping them for the challenges of the 21st-century knowledge economy.
“The true strength of a university lies not just in its infrastructure, but in the quality of human capital it produces,” the LG remarked. He called for a nurturing academic culture where teachers and students collaborate to build a dynamic and innovative environment.
Shri Sinha stressed the importance of interdisciplinary courses blending knowledge, creativity, ethical responsibility, and social awareness, applauding the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) for reshaping higher education to meet global demands. He urged continuous syllabus revision aligned with industry, society, and national development needs to foster students with curiosity, creativity, and adaptability.
Highlighting CUK’s responsibility as a cradle of development, he challenged faculty to inspire students to become architects of a new India. “If half your class exhibits the curiosity and passion you once had, the university is shaping a brighter future,” he said.
The LG also recalled India’s ancient educational legacy, lamenting colonial disruptions but celebrating the current revival and growth.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. A Ravinder Nath outlined the university’s journey and progress, including the final stage approval of a new university building proposal. He requested LG’s support for infrastructure needs such as access road construction and permanent water and power connections. Despite challenges, CUK has consistently delivered academic excellence, with a strong focus on socially relevant and globally significant research.
Prof. Nath highlighted recent recruitment of 46 faculty members, many with international and post-doctoral experience, and noted active participation in national missions like Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. He also sought assistance in providing housing for new faculty.
Dean Prof. Sandhya Tiwari expressed gratitude for the LG’s visionary address and noted the event’s significance for the university community. She emphasized the faculty induction as a pledge to uphold the LG’s vision of excellence and contribute to CUK’s growth.
The event concluded with the National Anthem, inspiring a renewed commitment to quality education and nation-building.
