Lt Gen Lakhera honors fallen soldier

Imphal, Mar 19: : Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, along with personnel from all ranks, paid tribute to a valiant soldier who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on 19 March 1945.

The solemn occasion commemorated the courage, dedication, and selfless service of the soldier, whose sacrifice continues to inspire the forces. A ceremonial salute was rendered by the troops, reaffirming the Assam Rifles’ commitment to honor and remember those who laid down their lives for the nation.
Officials highlighted that such tributes are a vital part of the armed forces’ tradition, instilling values of patriotism, discipline, and bravery among serving personnel and connecting current generations with the rich legacy of courage in India’s military history.
The event included a brief remembrance ceremony, where officers and soldiers observed a moment of silence, reflecting on the soldier’s ultimate act of valor and the enduring inspiration it provides for all ranks of the Assam Rifles.
