AssamRifles, visited Headquarters IGAR (North) in Kohima on 06 March 2026 to review operational preparedness, security dynamics, and welfare initiatives for troops deployed in the region.
During the visit, the DG was briefed on the current security situation, operational readiness, and measures undertaken for troop welfare. He interacted extensively with personnel of all ranks, commending their professionalism, dedication, and relentless efforts in maintaining peace and stability in Nagaland. Lt Gen Lakhera emphasized the critical importance of fostering strong synergy between security forces and local communities to ensure sustainable peace and mutual cooperation.
As part of his focus on troop welfare, the DG inaugurated a newly constructed Sports Complex at Kohima Garrison, designed for use by personnel of all ranks. The facility is equipped to promote physical fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship, providing soldiers with structured avenues for recreation and healthy competition.
The DG highlighted that well-maintained sports and recreational infrastructure is key to boosting morale, enhancing team spirit, and sustaining operational readiness, especially in challenging operational environments.
Senior officers and personnel appreciated the initiative, noting that such infrastructure strengthens both the physical and mental well-being of troops, reflecting the Assam Rifles’ commitment to holistic development and welfare alongside operational excellence.
