Lt Gen Pendharkar celebrates Kokborok Day in Tripura

Agartala, Jan 19: Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding of Spear Corps, along with all ranks, extended warm greetings to the people of Tripura on the occasion of Kokborok Day, celebrating the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of the state.

Kokborok Day commemorates the recognition of Kokborok, the language of the Tripuri people, as an official language in 1979. The day is observed to honor the Tripuri community’s cultural identity, preserve the language, and promote awareness about its significance among younger generations.
In his message, Lt Gen Pendharkar highlighted the importance of cultural pride, unity, and social cohesion in strengthening communities. He appreciated the efforts of educators, cultural organizations, and community leaders in preserving and promoting Kokborok through literature, music, and educational initiatives.
The Spear Corps’ gesture reflects the armed forces’ commitment to supporting local traditions and fostering goodwill among the people in the northeastern region, while also acknowledging the vital role of language in sustaining cultural heritage and collective identity.
