Commends operational readiness
Dimapur, Nov 13: Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Spear Corps, visited Indian Army units deployed in forward areas of Arunachal Pradesh on November 12. During the visit, Lt Gen Pendharkar conducted a comprehensive review of the operational preparedness of troops stationed along the sensitive and strategically significant border region.
The visit aimed at ensuring that the units are fully equipped and ready to handle any security challenges while also providing an opportunity to assess the troops’ welfare and morale in the challenging high-altitude terrain. Lt Gen Pendharkar commended the soldiers for their professionalism, unwavering dedication, and high morale, even in the face of tough operational conditions.
The GOC praised the soldiers' exceptional commitment to maintaining a high state of readiness in the region, which is prone to unpredictable weather and difficult terrain. The operational environment in Arunachal Pradesh, known for its dense forests, rugged mountains, and harsh weather, requires troops to remain constantly alert and prepared for any situation. Despite these challenges, Lt Gen Pendharkar noted that the troops had demonstrated exemplary resilience and fortitude.
In addition to reviewing operational readiness, the Corps Commander also interacted with participants of the Jachep Tso Trek, which was organized as part of the ongoing 63rd Walong Day Commemoration. The trek, which is a significant event in the history of the region, is a tribute to the sacrifices made by soldiers during the 1962 Sino-Indian War, particularly in the Walong sector.
Lt Gen Pendharkar lauded the spirit of adventure and camaraderie displayed by the participants of the trek, acknowledging their contribution to preserving the rich legacy of valor and sacrifice in the region. He also emphasized the importance of such commemorative events in strengthening the bond between the soldiers and the local communities.
The visit by Lt Gen Pendharkar is part of the ongoing efforts by the Indian Army to maintain operational vigilance along the northern borders and ensure the welfare and well-being of soldiers deployed in forward areas. The Spear Corps, which is responsible for guarding India's eastern border, plays a critical role in maintaining peace and security in the region.
