Sonitpur, Oct 15: Lt Gen Abhijit S. Pendharkar, GOC of Spear Corps, visited the 134 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) Eco at Nameri Reserve Forest, Sonitpur, and 30 Assam Rifles at Lokra, Assam, to review their ongoing contributions to environmental conservation and operational initiatives.

At Nameri, he was briefed on the unit’s 18-year-long efforts in afforestation and ecological preservation, recognizing their commitment to protecting natural resources. At Lokra, Lt Gen Pendharkar visited the Idea Innovation Centre established by 30 Assam Rifles, appreciating projects aimed at enhancing operational readiness and technological adaptability.
During his visit, he interacted with troops over tea, encouraging innovation, teamwork, and community engagement. The GOC also felicitated children with skill development certificates, highlighting the importance of nurturing local talent alongside military initiatives.
The visit reinforced the Spear Corps’ focus on combining operational excellence with community service and environmental stewardship.
