Discusses security situation in Tripura and B’desh

Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General, visited Tripura and met with Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura, on July 18, 2025. The meeting provided an important platform for discussing key issues concerning the security landscape of the region.
During the interaction, Lt Gen Lakhera briefed the Chief Minister on the current security situation in Tripura and the adjoining areas of Bangladesh. Emphasis was laid on ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability along the international border, address cross-border challenges, and strengthen coordination between civil administration and security forces.
The discussion also touched upon collaborative strategies to enhance border management and intelligence-sharing mechanisms, aiming to curb insurgency, smuggling, and other unlawful activities that impact regional security.
Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha appreciated the proactive measures taken by the armed forces and assured full support from the state government to bolster security initiatives. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the interests and welfare of the people of Tripura through continued cooperation.
The meeting underlined the importance of synergy between the military and civil authorities in maintaining a secure and peaceful environment conducive to development in the region.
