Machhal , Sep 26: The Indian Army grandly organized the Machhal Mela Festival 2026 in the border area of Machhal in North Kashmir, which saw large participation from local residents, school children, teachers, military officers, employees of various government departments, and other prominent personalities. The objective of the mela was to promote local culture and traditions while further strengthening mutual connection, cooperation, and trust between the public and the army.

On this occasion, the entire area came alive with cultural colors and activities, where the local population—particularly youth and school children—enthusiastically participated in various programs. Through cultural activities, sports, and other recreational events, the local traditions, cultural heritage of Machhal, and the talents of the younger generation were highlighted.
The festival was presided over by Indian Army GOC Rakesh Nair, Commander of the 53 Brigade, Commanding Officer of Machhal Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Commanding Officer of 56 RR, and other military officers. Also present on the occasion were MLA Lolab Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Jammu & Kashmir Police, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Mumtaz Ahmad, along with officers and staff from various government departments.
The event was also attended by Dr. Abdul Majid Wani, owner and senior physician at Quality Hands Multi-Specialty Hospital, as well as officers and employees from the Forest Department, Agriculture Department, and other relevant sectors. The participation of key figures from various fields transformed the mela into a collective community event, bringing issues related to the region's development and local welfare into focus.
