A man lost his life after being found in an unconscious state near Partap Park in the heart of Srinagar late Monday night, officials said.
According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as Mohammad Altaf Digoo, son of Abdul Aziz, a resident of Hamdaniya Colony, Bemina, Srinagar. He was found lying unconscious near Partap Park by locals, who immediately informed the police.
A police party reached the spot and shifted the man to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The cause of death is yet to be officially determined, pending medical examination and investigation.
Officials said the body was later handed over by the police representative to the police party of Police Station Kothibagh for necessary legal and procedural formalities.
Police have started inquest proceedings under relevant sections to ascertain the circumstances leading to the man’s death. Further investigation is underway.
